IAP Karachi Chapter in collaboration with the Hyderabad schools ie. Mehran University and CEAD organized a design workshop at the resident university (CEAD). The workshop was a great way to forge links between various professionals/ faculty to engage with young energetic architecture students to participate in a collaborative design studio atmosphere.
A Design Charrette led by Ar. Ali Reza Dossal was proposed for this week long workshop. Themed as metamorphosis, students were to develop and transform a 2d letter into 3D objects and or spaces through design processes and surgeries. Students presented through physical models and graphic representations of their concepts and development. Members of IAP National Council, Karachi Chapter and senior members were present to review the work and certificates were distributed to the participating students.
The outcome of the Design charette was as successful one and received well by the students and their faculty. Moreover a workshop of this nature has been requested to be integrated in their curriculum for various disciplines of art & architecture.
In the end a session was arranged with the practicing architects of Hyderabad with the IAP-KC Executive Committee. The topics ranged from exposure of young architects in Hyderabad, Bringing new building products to Hyderabad in the shape of an expo. Chairman IAP KC, Ar. Ramiz Baig appreciated the intent of the local architects and encouraged them to take the initiative for which they will have full support of the chapter.
